If you’re in the middle of planning your elopement, you might be wondering what the heck you’re going to do after the ceremony. When you’re eloping just the two of you, it can be hard to think of ideas. And while the answer it essentially “whatever you want,” I know that’s not super helpful. A lot of it depends on what your overall elopement day looks like: are you hiking to your ceremony spot on a mountaintop? Or are you eloping at your quant Airbnb in Northern Italy? No matter what your day looks like, here are some ideas for what to do after eloping!
The classic post-elopement celebration! Charcuterie picnics are a fan fav – pack up your favorite meats, cheeses, olives and crackers (or yummy vegan alternatives) and viola!
If you’re somewhere close to civilization, doing out to dinner is a great idea for what to do after eloping. Splurge on a fancy restaurant (like this Italian cliffside spot) you’ve been saving for a special occasion, or hit up the local dive bar. Either way, you’ll be enjoying your first meal with your spouse, and life is good.
There’s just something about dancing with your love in the moonlight *swooooon* Pro tip: bring a bluetooth speaker (I always have mine clipped to my pack) and make sure you have your song downloaded in case you don’t have service!
Could anything BE more romantic?! (*Chandler Bing voice*) Even though elopements don’t tend to be very stressful, stargazing is the perfect way to totally relax and decompress from the day.
This is one of my personal favorites. Ask your friends and family to write you letters (physical or email) for you to read after eloping. It’s a beautiful way to include people in your day and tends to be an emotional, heartwarming experience for everyone involved.
Take a moment and just think back on your amazing day. What were your favorite parts of each other’s vows? Maybe even write down all your favorite parts in a new journal, or talk about your biggest hopes and dreams for your new marriage. Cheesy? Sure. A special memory you’ll cherish forever? Heck ya.
There are a TON of options for what to do after eloping. Have no fear – I’m here to guide you along every step of the elopement planning process. Are you ready to get started?
